provides basic health services to children in grades K-6.

2003 Accomplishments:
- Asthma
Worked closely with the asthma consultant from Memorial
Mission/ St. Joseph to establish a plan of care for each
child that has been diagnosed with asthma. Classes have
been scheduled as well as parent contacts to meet and
discuss care. Follow- up is made and the asthma consultant
has scheduled home visits as well to identify allergen
triggers. Albutorol inhalers are kept in the nurse’s
office and administered and documented as need. Also proventil
nebulizer treatments are given as ordered.

- Strep Throat
Strep tests are given for phayngitis with fever. Follow-up
documentation is made to assure medication compliance.
Medications are given at school as needed.
- Medicines sent from Home
Complete documentation and administration of medicines
brought from home, prescriptions as well as over the counter
medications. Allergies are documented on the patient’s
charts.
- Attention Deficit Disorder
Conferences are made with consulting physician, parents
and teachers to evaluate medication requirement for maximum
benefits achieved. Medicines are given and documented
on a daily bases. Also work closely with the school psychologist
as well for the management of hyperactivity associated
with ADHD.
- Anxiety and Stress
Work closely with school counselor incorporating relaxation
yoga type techniques for stress, anxiety and migraine
headaches on a one on one basis as well as classroom before
end of school testing.
- Referrals are made for ophthalmologic studies on children
with impaired vision and follow- up documentation is completed
and charted.
