Health Check
The mission of the Health Check Coordinator is to assure that Medicaid eligible children receive well child care including immunizations and preventative screening as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Advisory Council on Immunization Practices.

Scope of Work:
The Health Check Coordinator provides case management and advocacy for Medicaid eligible children under the age of 19. Duties include; tracking immunizations, assisting families with Child Health Insurance and Medicaid enrollment, and advocating for families to obtain preventative health services for children.

2003 Accomplishments:

  • Provided services to over 800 children.
  • Developed cooperative relationship with newly formed Pediatric program at CIH.
  • Received Service Award and special recognition from NC DHHS for contributing to the improvement of the quality of life for NC/EBCI children.
  • Collaborates with EBCI Community Health Dept to provide comprehensive services to children and their families.
  • Assists the WIC, MCC, CSC staff on a daily basis with Medicaid issues.
  • Completed 24 hrs of continuing education in Child Abuse and Domestic Violence training.
  • Participated in The Qualla Boundary Child Protection Team, Cherokee Children’s Coalition, and the Head Start Health Advisory Committee.
