Third Party Billing
  The mission of Third Party Billing is to initiate and maintain a principled accounting system for the accounting of all third party payments.

Scope of Work: The Third Party Billing office is responsible for medical billing of all EBCI
tribal clinics. They verify and process data from tribal clinics to generate medical claim form
for third party payers, such as Medicaid, Medicare, and other private insurance agencies.
They process claims for payment and record payment upon receipt.

2003 Accomplishments:

  • Tracking of enrolled members that are seen in the clinics with no insurance, total charge of visit.
  • Have a Certified Coder position.
  • Assisting with Compliance audits – Home Health, Qualla Youth Health Center, and Cherokee County.
  • In process of hiring another Data Entry operator.

  • Completed cost reports for Medicare and Medicaid for Tribal Clinics and Medicaid cost report for EMS program.
  • Three employees became certified as Medical Insurance Specialists with training in Orlando, Florida in March 2003.
  • All employees are SHIP VOLUNTEERS with the NC Medicare. We are able to help with Medicare questions from the public regarding policies and other information.
  • Carol is now entering data into the RPMS for 12 clinics.
